<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc1">ツルムラサキとオカワカメ（アカザカズラ）とは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルムラサキ（蔓紫） <em>Basella alba</em> はインド～東南アジア原産のつる性一年草です（RBG Kew, 2023）。中国・熱帯アフリカ・中央アメリカ・南アメリカでは食用に栽培されたものが帰化しています。日本では江戸時代に伝わって主に観賞用として栽培されていたものの、極めて少なかったですが、第二次世界大戦後の日中国交正常化以後は中国野菜ブームの到来によって食用としての栽培が次第に増加してます。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">アカザカズラ（藜蔓） <em>Anredera cordifolia</em> は一般名オカワカメ（陸若布）、雲南百薬。南アメリカ原産のつる性多年草です。アフリカ・オーストラリア太平洋地域・南ヨーロッパ・北アメリカでは観賞用・食用に栽培されたものが帰化しており、特にオーストラリアでは有害雑草として有名です。日本でも稀ですが観賞用・食用に栽培されます。以下アカザカズラと呼んでいきます。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">いずれもツルムラサキ科の観賞用・食用に栽培されるつる性草本です。葉上面・下面ともに緑色で、肉厚で卵円形である点、茎と葉ともに毛が生えず光沢がある点などかなり共通点が多く、マイナーな種類なので識別するのが難しいかもしれません。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc2">ツルムラサキとオカワカメ（アカザカズラ）の違いは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">しかし、ツルムラサキとアカザカズラの間には決定的な違いがあります（Wu et al., 2003）。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">まず、ツルムラサキはツルムラサキ属ですが、アカザカズラはアカザカズラ属に含まれるので同じ科ではあるものの、分類的な隔たりがあることが予想されるでしょう。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">具体的には花の形が全く異なります。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>ツルムラサキでは小花柄がなく、花被片は多肉質で開花時にはほとんど開かず、雄しべが短いのに対して、アカザカズラでは小花柄があり、開花時には花被片は膜質で完全に開ききり、雄しべは長く突き出すという違いがあります。</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">また、繁殖方法にも違いがあります。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルムラサキでは果実があり、球形で黒紫色に熟す液果を作ることで繁殖する（生殖成長・有性生殖を行う）のに対して、アカザカズラでも球形で暗褐色～黒色に熟す核果ができることも稀にありますが、ほとんど結実せず地上塊茎（むかご）や切断された根から繁殖します（栄養成長・無性生殖を行う）。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>そのため、アカザカズラでは茎の間に茶色い塊を観察することができるでしょう。ツルムラサキにはこれはありません。</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">葉での識別は難しいと思いますが、ツルムラサキでは葉身の長さは3～9cmですが、アカザカズラでは長さ2～6cmと、ややツルムラサキの方が大きいという傾向があります。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">またアカザカズラでは葉が波打つことが多いですが、ツルムラサキではそうなっていません。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">以上で識別できると思います。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">なお、ツルムラサキにはシンツルムラサキ ‘Rubra’ と呼ばれる園芸品種も知られており、この園芸品種では茎は赤紫色で、葉は緑色だったものが、植物が成熟するにつれて、葉の基部から紫色の色素を生成し紫色を帯びていきます。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc3">ツルムラサキとオカワカメ（アカザカズラ）の味の違いは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルムラサキとアカザカズラはどちらも食用として利用されています。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">この2種に味の違いはあるのでしょうか？</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">あるブログでは実際におひたしにして食べ比べた感想が書かれています（fukuoka-vegico，2010）。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">それによると、ツルムラサキでは「オカワカメに比べると粘りが少なく、癖がなく食べやすい。」のに対して、アカザカズラでは「ぷにぷにした食感に粘りも強く、少し青臭さもあるけど味が濃くて美味。」とあります。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルムラサキはホウレンソウのような食感、アカザカズラはやはりオカワカメという別名通りワカメのような食感なのかもしれません。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">みなさんも食べ比べてみると面白いと思います。</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc4">ツルムラサキとツルナの違いは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルムラサキと混同される種類としてツルナ <em>Tetragonia tetragonioides</em> も挙げられるかもしれません。同じくつる性多年草で、若い葉と茎を摘み取って食用にすることがあるからです。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">しかし、こちらは分類が全く異なりハマミズナ科ツルナ属で、葉が卵状三角形～菱形と、円形のツルムラサキとは全く形が異なります。花も黄色く花弁を開ききるものです。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">したがって、しっかり観察すれば区別はつくでしょう。</p>
