<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ドクダミ（蕺・蕺草・蕺菜） <em>Houttuynia cordata</em> は日本の本州・四国・九州・琉球；中国・ヒマラヤ・東南アジアに分布し、山野の木陰や湿地に生える多年草です。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ハンゲショウ（半化粧・半夏生） <em>Saururus chinensis</em> は別名カタシログサ （片白草）。日本の本州・四国・九州・琉球；朝鮮・中国・東南アジアに分布し、沼地や湿地など水気の多い所に生える多年草です。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">いずれもドクダミ科に含まれ、湿気を好む多年草です。特にドクダミは身近で「ドクダミ茶」としてよく飲まれている他、都市部でも道傍で群生している姿をよく見かけます。踏みつけると独特の臭みが漂うため、苦手な人もいるかもしれません。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc2">ドクダミとハンゲショウの違いは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ドクダミとハンゲショウは同じ科ではありますが、かなり見た目が異なっており、判別は簡単です（神奈川県植物誌調査会，2018）。これはドクダミがドクダミ属、ハンゲショウがハンゲショウ属に含まれることからも予想できると思います。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>まず一番初めに挙げられる違いは、ドクダミでは花序の元に4～6枚の白い総苞片があるのに対して、ハンゲショウでは花序の元に総苞片がないという点です。</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ドクダミの白い部分はよく「花弁」であると勘違いされますが、これは「花弁」ではなく葉が変化した「総苞片」と呼ばれる構造物です。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">その代わり、ハンゲショウは花期に葉の上面の一部が白くなります。これは逆にドクダミにはありません。これが「半化粧」や「片白草」という名前の由来になっています。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>もう一点の違いが、ドクダミでは花序の長さが1～3cmしかないのに対して、ハンゲショウでは花序の長さが10～15cmもあるというものです。</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">そのため、ハンゲショウの方が大型な印象を受けるでしょう。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ドクダミの場合は白い総苞片に囲まれた部分が「花序」になります。よく見てみると、花序の中に雄しべと雌しべを持った花が多数あることが確認できるでしょう。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">葉に関しても写真で分かるようにサイズが全く異なっており、ハンゲショウの方がドクダミより長いものになっています。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc3">ドクダミとツルドクダミの違いは？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルドクダミ <em>Fallopia multiflora</em> は中国東部・台湾・ベトナム・タイ原産で、日本には薬用に輸入されたといわれ、現在は各地の山野・道端で野生化しています。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ツルドクダミはドクダミと名前が似た植物で、名前通りドクダミの心形（ハート形）で葉脈が掌状脈の葉にとても良く似ているので区別がつかない人がいるかも知れません。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">しかし、分類上は全く異なり、ドクダミは上述のようにドクダミ科ですが、ツルドクダミはタデ科に含まれています。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong><span class="marker-under-red">葉に関しては、ハート形の上部の丸い部分（耳状突起）がドクダミでは少し突き出す程度ですが、ツルドクダミではかなり長く突き出すという違いがあります。</span></strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">花に関しては全く異なり、ドクダミでは「花穂」という密な花序を作っていますが、ツルドクダミでは円錐花序を作っています。勿論、ドクダミにある白い総苞片はツルドクダミにはありません。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">果実に関しても全く異なり、ドクダミでは蒴果で、緑色でほぼ球形ですが、ツルドクダミでは痩果で、風を受ける「<ruby>翼<rt>よく</rt></ruby>」と呼ばれる薄い部分があります。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc4">他に似た種類はいる？</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ドクダミには日本に別種はいませんが、いくつか品種が知られています。ミドリドクダミ f. <em>viridis</em> は総苞片の一部が緑色の品種です。ヤエドクダミ f. <em>plena</em> は総苞片が八重になっている品種です。フイリドクダミ ‘Variegata’ は葉に斑が入っている品種です。</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">ハンゲショウにはアメリカ大陸にアメリカハンゲショウ <em>Saururus cernuus</em> という同属の別種が知られています。アメリカハンゲショウは葉上面が花期になっても白くなりません。日本でもアクアリウムやビオトープで植栽されることがあります。</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">多年草。地下茎は太く横走します。茎は高さ50～100cmになり、花序をのぞき、無毛。葉は長さ5～15cm、幅3～8cm、全縁、通常5本の脈が目立ちます。花序に近い葉は、花期に半分近くが白くなります。花序は長さ5～15cmで、はじめ下垂していますが、後に直立し、全体に縮毛があります。花は小さく花弁はありません。花期6～8月。本州・四国・九州・琉球；朝鮮・中国・東南アジアに分布。沼地や湿地など水気の多い所に生育します。</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><span id="toc2">No.0083 ドクダミ Houttuynia cordata</span></h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">多年草。白い地下茎が横走します。茎は高さ30～50cmで、托葉をのぞき、全体無毛、通常暗紫色を帯びます。葉は有柄で、光沢のない暗緑色、長さ4～10cm、幅3～7cm、先端は鋭尖頭。花序は葉と対生するように出ます。花は1～3cmの穂状になり、基部には通常4枚の白色の総苞片があります。花期は5～6月。本州・四国・九州・琉球；中国・ヒマラヤ、東南アジアに分布。日陰でもよく生育し、普通に見られます。</p>
